Maria D. Cruz is an associate at DLEI&D. She concentrates her practice in general liability defense including construction accidents (New York Labor Law §§ 240 and 241[6]), construction defects, product liability, premises liability, motor carrier litigation, and personal injury litigation. Maria began working with DLEI&D as a law clerk while completing her final semester of law school and was elevated to associate after passing the bar exam.
Maria regularly engages in all aspects of general liability defense from inception through trial, including expert retention and consultation, discovery, conducting and defending depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation. She represents insureds, owners, contractors, doctors, insurance companies, and municipalities.
Maria is admitted to practice in the State of New York. She received her B.A. from Zicklin School of Business, City University of New York Baruch College in 2018. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2024, where she was a Notes Editor for the Touro Law Review and Vice President of the Employment and Labor Law Society.
